THE FISH IN THE PICTURES WERE ALL CAUGHT WITHIN 300 YARDS OF BEACH AND ALL WITHIN ONE HOUR. -- Billy Trivette

FINALLY FOUND THE DISPOSABLE CAMERA FROM SUNDAY EVENING, APRIL 29, 2007. THE PICTURES ARE DEVELOPED AND JACKIE AND HIS FISH ARE ON THERE. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE FISH WAS SO BIG, WE DID NOT GET JACKIE'S FACE IN THE PHOTOS. HOWEVER, HIS SKINNY LEGS ARE UNDENIABLE. NICE FISH, SEVERAL CAUGHT THAT EVENING, JUST A WONDERFUL SITUATION.)

Hey, finally got my pictures developed from our trip over in October.  Caught mostly the grass everywhere we went on the island but lucked up Oct 8 on upper end.  Was actually catching some whiting and fishing for them with small circle hook, small cut mullet.  Holding rod -thank goodness -when tightened up and kept going.  Fought him for about 35 minutes on 12" rod and ABU Garcia 7000C3 with 25 lb line.  Beautiful Fish, have a 40" one on my wall -caught him last year could keep that big.

Here are some pictures from our recent trip down.  We caught these drum on 11/1 before the storm hit.
What a great 4 hours of fishing - 11 hooked and 8 landed and released.
There is also a great picture of a shark we caught at the point on the night 11/3.
The guy holding it up is 6'6" if that gives you any idea of the size.
I failed to mention the two drum pictures were drum of 55" and about 50" and they were fat.
Didn't have anything to measure girth but guessing the larger on was in the 55-60# range and the other was in the 48-52# range.

Here are pictures of some of the drum we caught on our last trip.

Never caught a drum over 27 inches until this week.. We caught two, one at 46 inch and another at 45 inch. Both were caught on 14 pound test.

Jackie, the caretaker of Great Island Cabins  informed me that there was a loggerhead turtle laying her eggs down near mile marker 32 next to the Greens camper...me and a few other people went down and checked out the turtle. The Greens told us that the turtle came up and started laying her eggs probably about 6pm or so. The turtle didn't go all the way back to the dunes, instead it stopped in about the middle of the beach just slightly above the high tide line.  We watched her lay her eggs, slowly cover the nest back up, and then make her way back to the ocean.  The following day the SCA turtle intern relocated the nest to a safer area farther down south on the beach.  Apparently the turtle only laid about 74 eggs, which is on the lower end of the scale for how many eggs they usually lay.  I was busy taking pictures the whole time she was laying and making her way back to the water. The whole thing was incredible to watch and gave me a newfound respect for sea turtles.

Hope that helps give some background info on the pictures.

 Enjoy!

Hi everyone! We had some great success fishing on Sunday May 20th 2007 at the South Point, caught 3 large drum in 2 hours. Our little man is holding his flounder oh so proudly. Thought we'd share a few photos of CALO and the fish too! Can't wait to go back to this fantastic place!
