Doing an eleven day search for pompano and whiting. Last Friday was able to get on a good pompano bite on the south side of shark island. Although there was a bunch of floating grass. Used fish gum and floating rigs and was able to land 6. They ranged from 15 to 18 inches. We have caught the occasional blue a few times. Smoked some that I caught a few weeks ago and that turned out pretty good! One sheepshead from the outside as well. We got to the point early Saturday morning with a plan for the pomp’s. They had a different plan. So did the rest of the fish. Except for a roughly 40 pound black drum. He hit a pomp rig. Got some photos and released it. Been tough the last few days. I have fished some beautiful ditches around 26. Have been able to pick up about 20 keeper whiting as well so far. All about 12 inches. I did catch one that was 15. My biggest yet. I’ve dealt with grass along the main beach but I’m really struggling with these little croakers that seem to be everywhere I cast! I’ll try to report back in a few days.
