Swung by B&Js and picked up a few pounds of shrimp and some mullet on the way down. Mullet looked good/fresh. Got over about mid day at dead lowtide, took the opportunity to hit the hard sand and scout out some holes. Found a few on the north end water looked decent. Fished until dinner and not much action, just a "short" flounder. Hit some of the north end the next morning, a few good strikes but nothing committed, left the north end and got into a good blue blitz on the way back. Sometimes just sitting back and watching nature do it's thing is as good as slinging spoons for the blues. We watched the birds and chopper blues pushing bait onto the beach. Pretty wild. Pelicans didnt care that you were 4 feet away from them. Headed south of the cabins and set up on some flat beach with a decent trough and cut. Caught one overslot, a turtle, sandtiger, another "short" flounder, some trash fish then packed it up once they showed up. The next round the following morning was tossing chunks on the southern point. We caught an uncountable amount of blues, some over 38 inches. They are hard on terminal so we stopped tossing meat. I had tied up some pomp rigs a few months ago and wanted to try a few new things.. Nothing touched the shrimp not sure why. Grabbed the rake and got some fleas. Lots of small to medium fleas, a few bigger ones but they were down 10 inches or more right in the break. Found some blue water and started throwing some fleas tipped with the special sauce and like clockwork it was pomp party time. Pomps were the story of the trip for us, ended up with quite a few, 5 citation fish 2 in the 3lb range and one 4lb 20 inch fish. Great overall trip. Good variety this year... Tight lines yall.
One other thing, watchout for holes on the beach, these folks out here digging big pits for their beach fires never fill them in. I spilt the hell out of my coffee I think there is some on my headliner. Hell of a surprise.
